Racist '#AllLivesMatter' Social Media Response Trends The Day After An Unarmed Black Man Is Killed

Updated: Jun 14

Racist response to the death of George Floyd began to trend on #Twitter and people were having none of it. This again proves that there is a portion of people that are just out to spread their narrow-minded, #racist views; thankfully there are plenty of people who support black people and their goals for equality and have defended and explained to people why #AllLivesMatter is not okay.

A number of racist trends started to appear on Twitter shortly after The Death of George Floyd in police custody. Considerable trends that were taking place include 'Make Whites Great Again' and '#AllLivesMatter'.

The All Lives Matter trend had more than 100,000 tweets and rising which is deeply concerning and shows the blatant disrespect that people are showing towards the black community, especially after the death of an unarmed black man at the hands of a white police officer.

One Twitter user pointed out 'If #AllLivesMatter why are black people getting killed?' She then continued on to point out that if all lives actually matter 'why are latinos being kept in cages stripped away from their families and children at the border? why are indigenous women & children missing/murdered? why are LGBTQ+ being assaulted and killed?' - All of which is sadly all too true.

Yes all lives do matter, however that is not currently true and humanity has never achieved this as of yet. Black Lives Matter is essential because to so many people, black lives haven't mattered, and still don't. To say otherwise is either to be ignorant or uneducated. Until Black Lives actually Matter, all lives clearly don't matter.

People were disgusted in the trends taking place as people are either completely missing the point about #BlackLivesMatter or they are just being outright racist towards black people and demeaning the lives of black people.
