So Why Was George Floyd Actually Arrested?

Updated: Jun 6

So much heartache and incomprehensible distress has been caused by the abhorrent, unnecessary death of George Floyd, both to his family and the wider black community due to police brutality. So why was he arrested? What did he do that was so truly awful that he deserved such horrendous #PoliceBrutality and to die for it? The alleged crime he commited at the time - the use of a counterfeit $20 bill at a shop. Which was unproven at the time of his death, as the shopkeeper only suspected that Floyd had used a fake note and called the police to report him.

This has been the final straw that has led to protests across every state in the US and throughout a number of major cities in the UK. The #BlackLivesMatter protests have been mostly peaceful and gained widespread support from across the world.

For such a minor offence, regardless if it was indeed committed, it should not require four officers to ensure that Floyd was pinned down in a #chokehold and especially not require the use of such brute force from the officers; the use of which ultimately led to Floyd's death in their custody.

Whether #GeorgeFloyd commited a crime or not, his death in police custody should not have even been an option.
